Eleanor Stalick is a senior at the University of Pennsylvania studying political science, with a minor in Chinese. She has worked as a research assistant to Dr. Beth Simmons since the Spring of 2019. Her research addresses the question, “how do states exert sovereignty in cyberspace?” Stalick utilizes cybersecurity policy database APIs, web scraping, and computational linguistics to collect and analyze descriptive as well as quantitative data on the types of regulations states place on their cyberspace, what goals states have in mind for these regulations, states’ effectiveness at achieving these goals, and the diffusion of cybersecurity policies across states over time. Outside of her research for Perry World House, Stalick is a University Scholar at CURF and a campaign aid for nationwide Rural Electric Cooperative board elections via the Rural Democracy Initiative.
