Lacy Feigh is a Ph.D. candidate in the History Department at the University of Pennsylvania. Her dissertation examines the legacies of slavery and empire and their impact on identity in Ethiopia and the Red Sea throughout the twentieth century. Feigh's research, supported by the Social Science Research Council and Fulbright, has involved archival work and fieldwork in Ethiopia, Egypt, Great Britain, and Switzerland. Her areas of specialization include histories of the modern Middle East and Horn of Africa, as well as thematic fields on race, labor, and migration. Prior to graduate school, Feigh served as a Fulbright English Language Teaching Fellow in Amman, Jordan and an English teacher with the Peace Corps in Yirgalem, Ethiopia.
