2022 Penn Global Undergraduate Student Citizenship Award Winner

Hugo Leo graduated from The Wharton School with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, concentrating in Finance and Business Analytics. Originally from Jakarta Indonesia, Hugo served as President of the Assembly of International Students (AIS) from December 2019 through December 2021. During his tenure as president of AIS, Hugo was a tireless advocate for international undergraduates, working diligently with a large portfolio of student groups and University administrators to respond to the impacts of COVID-19 on campus life. He has been described as an “exceptional leader” and an “impassioned ambassador” who “delivered a range of valuable programming that connected Penn’s global student and alumni community through one of the most challenging times” in the University’s history. In addition to his work in AIS, Hugo has been a passionate representative of Penn’s Indonesian student community, having spearheaded Penn’s first-ever conference on Indonesia and served on the leadership team of Penncasila.
